The trial that will determine who is fit to become a mare (dream magician) is coming up. Everyone has high hopes for the young dark alf Sindri. After all, his father is the master mare.

Sindri himself isn't so sure of himself. And his father? He'll just see how things go.

What do the fortune gods have in store for Sindri?

Apprenticeship is the prequel to Darkmares. In this short story, you'll learn more about Sindri and how he became what he is over a thousand years later.

Darkmares is the first volume in Wights of the Nine Worlds, an urban dark fantasy series about creatures from Norse mythology who appear in the modern human world. A world they, by the way, still call Midgard. Gods have always vied with one another for power. The stories you'll follow in this series, however, are about other beings who get caught up in this struggle—whether they want to or not.
