Some days, everything comes in at once. There's music in the grocery store, beeping at the checkout, and a phone buzzing in your pocket. Then you get home and someone asks one more question. Before It Gets to Be Too Much is a short, practical audiobook for anyone who gets overstimulated easily and wants to notice it sooner, while there's still a choice.

You'll learn to spot your own early signs, before you snap at someone or walk out. You'll also learn to check your score: one number from zero to ten, three times a day, for how full your head is. From there, the book covers the four places where it often gets to be too much: home, on the go and in busy places, at work (even when there's no quiet room to escape to), and time with other people, including the evenings you enjoy. The last chapters explain the difference between rest and distraction, and show you how to plan a week with a valley after every peak.

Each chapter takes about fifteen minutes and ends with one short thinking exercise. You don't need a pen or paper. The examples follow Elena, who works in an open office, and Andre, who works in a busy clothing store.

This is book three in the Plain and Practical series: one everyday problem, about two hours, steps you can use right away.

Please note: Marijn Verbeek is a pen name. The text was written with artificial intelligence and is narrated by a digital voice. The examples are made up.
