Ella Lambright has carried nine questions for the young men of Larkspur Prairie. Seven of them ended in weddings. She has never carried one for herself.

On the first of December, Silas Helmuth, the new buggy maker from Illinois, comes down the stairs of her candy kitchen and asks her to find him a wife before Second Christmas. Ella says yes, on one condition: he drives her Christmas deliveries, three hundred boxes of Christmas candy, all over the district.

So there are Saturdays on the wagon seat behind his horse Ticket, with a gray blanket over their knees and the lake snow coming. There are lessons in her basement kitchen on how to talk to a girl. There is a list of names, and Silas practicing on Ella everything he means to say to someone else.

But Ella has been practiced on once before, and she knows exactly how that ends.

Courting the Amish Matchmaker is the first book in the Larkspur Prairie series: a sweet, clean Amish Christmas romance in northern Indiana, with faith, family, a horse named Ticket, and a happy ending. The first chapter of Book Two is at the end.
