Twelve years ago, her evidence sent a man to prison for murder.
nTonight she found out the footage lied.

Forensic video analyst Neve Calder knows every digit a CCTV clock can show. In 2015 she stood in a Manchester courtroom and swore the recording was genuine: Shaun Pollitt's van on a lonely reservoir road on the night Dawn Fairley vanished. No body was ever found. Shaun went to prison anyway.

Now, weeks after exposing a man who rewrote the timestamps of the missing, Neve looks at that old clip again. Under the date, she finds ghosts. The van was there. Just not that night.

Then, at one in the morning, a stranger in a black beanie rings her buzzer. A woman who never lets a camera see her face. A woman who says a hunted mother is trapped under a seaside jetty with the tide coming in, and the man who spent eight years searching for her is waiting at the end of it.

Neve went on television to show families how to spot a faked last sighting. She thought she was helping. Instead, she handed a key to every violent man whose wife or girlfriend vanished on purpose.

Because some of the missing women aren't missing at all. For years, a quiet network has helped women escape dangerous men, staging their final moments on camera and making them disappear. Twenty-four of them are out there, alive, under other names. In twenty-five days, the police will start writing to their families.

Someone is already ahead of the letters. Someone is finding the women first.

To stop him, Neve must choose between the truth she swore to in court and the lives built on a lie. And she has to learn who the woman in the black beanie really is, before the killer does.

Relentless, twisty and set across a freezing Northern winter, Dead Women Don't Hide is the second book in The Last Person on Camera series, following She's Been Dead Six Months.
