Dracula is a Gothic horror novel written by the Irish author Bram Stoker, famous for introducing the character of the vampire Count Dracula. The novel relates the story of Dracula's attempt to relocate from Transylvania to England, and the battle between Dracula and a small group of men and women led by Professor Abraham Van Helsing. Although Bram Stoker did not invent the vampire, he defined its modern form, and the novel has spawned theatrical, film and television interpretations and has influenced numerous contemporary writers and contemporary interest in vampires has never been more prevalent, as can be witnessed in the enormous global success of Stephanie Meyer's "Twilight" series of novel which has also been adapted into a successful movie franchise.
