You can prepare for a birth. But how do you prepare to nurture a life you did not author?

Pregnancy brings questions that no ultrasound, checklist, or birth plan can fully answer. Who is this child? Who am I becoming? How do I prepare to nurture a life whose future I cannot control?

In God, Mommy and Me: Our Unscripted Conversations, Dr. Lois Khalfani-Barnes invites expectant mothers into a 42-week journey of sacred conversation, where the unfolding of a child's development meets the honest emotions of motherhood and the governing authority of scripture.

Each week, the child speaks through Dear Mom, the mother responds through Dear Child, and Dear Children returns both to the truth of God's Word. These exchanges examine identity, belonging, fear, faith, responsibility, and the difference between preparing for a child and attempting to determine that child's future.

This is not a call to perform the role of a fearless, flawless mother. It is an invitation to listen, pray, care responsibly, and recognize that uncertainty does not disqualify faith.

Motherhood does not require a woman to disappear; nor does loving a child make her the author of that child's identity or purpose. The woman remains God's daughter even as she becomes a mother, and the child remains God's creation even while entrusted to her care.

Before a mother holds her child, both lives are already known by God. He is not being invited into their story. He is the Source and author of their story.
