Did anyone feed the dog?

Every household has a job that never appears on a list of chores: remembering. The tire appointment, the warranty that runs out on the 30th, the pool company that stopped answering, and whether anyone fed the dog. For four months, Bo Bennett's family handed that job to Duncan, an AI agent that runs their home.

The Household Chief is the honest account of what happened. Duncan booked the tires, chased the warranty, got the trees cut back from the power lines, watched the empty house from a thousand miles away, and sent a one-minute briefing every morning. It also looked in the wrong place, said the car was locked when it was not, and once filed one person's words in another person's memory. Every one of those mistakes became a rule, and the rules are the most useful thing in the book.
