A Practical Framework for Thinking About AI

Some say AI is becoming conscious, maybe even alive, and could one day take over. Others say it is nothing more than sophisticated software. These conflicting claims leave us unsure of AI’s place in the world and in our lives: whether to use it at work, how to feel about humanoid robots, and whether it belongs in our homes or even our bodies.

In How Should We Think About AI? software development professional and Christian philosopher Kristen Davis offers a practical framework for working through these questions, one that holds up whichever direction the technology goes. This book will help you

understand the different views surrounding AI—what it is, what it is capable of, and what it can become
weigh claims about AI consciousness, personhood, and life with clear thinking instead of fear
have meaningful conversations with others using the same language and reference points
think wisely about integrating (or not integrating) AI into your daily life

Accessible and thought-provoking, this book clearly explains the technologies and philosophies behind AI and their implications for humanity.
