Paris, 2026. Twenty-eight-year-old Nathalie Delcourt has just lost her mother, Claire, a seamstress who once made costumes for the theater. Sorting through unfinished orders and unpaid bills, Nathalie discovers a champagne-colored dress her mother was secretly making for her. In its seams lies a possibility she has almost stopped believing in: singing, stepping onto a stage, and finding a life beyond survival.

There is one thing strangers always notice about Nathalie. With her blonde hair and striking features, she looks uncannily like Marilyn Monroe. For event organizers, that resemblance is something they can sell. For a young woman struggling to pay rent, it could offer a way forward. Encouraged by her friend Nadia, Nathalie accepts her first bookings and meets André, a theater mentor who hears something in her voice that has nothing to do with imitation.

As rehearsals and photo sessions open new doors, old feelings return. Jeanne, a photographer and former lover, sees the woman beneath the famous face. Gabriel, a musician, awakens another desire and shares the excitement of her artistic beginnings. Nathalie is drawn to women and men, but loving honestly proves more complicated than acknowledging attraction. Between tenderness, jealousy, and conflicting expectations, she must learn to speak clearly about what she can offer and listen to what others need.

Then Victor arrives with an answer for everything. Attentive and well connected, he offers introductions, invitations, and the promise of a career. At first, his help seems to lift the burdens Nathalie has carried alone. Gradually, however, opportunity comes with conditions. Her appearance becomes a marketing tool, her private life becomes campaign material, and favors begin to look like debts she never knowingly agreed to repay.

When a fabricated video using her face starts circulating, Nathalie loses control of more than her public image. A lie can travel faster than any denial, reaching people who have never heard her sing or spoken her name. To protect herself, she must preserve evidence, seek help, and face uncomfortable questions about the people managing her opportunities. Meanwhile, professional pressure threatens the fragile independence she has begun to build.

With Nadia, Jeanne, and others willing to stand beside her, Nathalie starts making firmer choices: where to work, which contracts to accept, what to keep private, and whom to trust. Claire's unfinished dress remains a link between grief and possibility, carrying the memory of a mother's care into an uncertain future.

Set among Parisian workshops, intimate rooms, and theater wings, this novel explores bisexual desire, manipulation, friendship, and the difficult work of rebuilding a life. Nathalie has spent years being recognized as someone else. Now she must decide how to use the resemblance without surrendering herself, how to love without disappearing, and how to make an audience hear the voice that belongs to her alone.
