In Vallombre, the mist never fully lifts — and nobody minds. It drapes over the rooftops like an old blanket, smells of hot tea and woodsmoke, and has watched over the village better than any lock ever could.

Elise only came to sell. A burnt-out accountant living a life she never really chose, she inherits an inn from a great-aunt she barely knew — along with an unexpected clause in the will: three months to get the place back on its feet, win over the regulars, and leave with a cheque. What she doesn't know yet is that she's inherited something else, too.

A sock-stealing spirit fox moves into her kitchen without a word of explanation. Renaud, the local forest ranger, gruff as they come, fixes her roof before she has to ask twice. And in the attic, a forgotten photograph — of a woman no one in the village will name — hints at a secret older than Elise herself.

The Inn of the Soft Mists is the first book in a cosy fantasy trilogy, with no violence and no spice: a story about finding home, a mist that protects, and a family secret waiting to be warmed up, one cup of tea at a time.
