At Leo's kindergarten, everyone is getting ready for the Christmas party. Some children are practicing the songs, others are thinking up games, others are making decorations. But the most important thing is missing: the tree. The teachers have searched the whole town, and every tree is sold out.

That evening Leo looks out of his bedroom window, takes his Silver Bell and rings it. The sound rises all the way to Santa's Village, and soon a sleigh sets a magnificent fir down in the schoolyard. For a whole day the children and teachers cover it in lights, bows and glittering baubles.

But the next morning the yard is silent. The branches are bare, the decorations are gone, and little tears are falling from the tree.

“We won't give up,” says Leo. And then the best part begins: paper stars and hearts, bows, painted pine cones — a tree built by everybody's hands. Only the lights are missing, but Leo knows who to ask, and Sleepy Little Star will come to settle on the very top.

A story about what cannot be bought and has to be made together, with warm watercolor illustrations. For children aged 3 to 5.
