Leo is three years old, with thick red-gold hair and one great passion: Santa Claus. Every night he looks up at the sky from his window and wonders how Santa manages to bring presents to every child in the world.

One morning he finds a red envelope by the front door, his name on it in sparkling gold letters. It is a message from the elves: Santa isn't feeling well and has to stay in bed, Christmas is coming, and they need help. Moments later a flying sleigh lands in front of the house, with a note on the seat — “For Leo, my special helper.”

At the Village, Leo finds a list of presents longer than any he's ever seen, and a workshop full of ribbons, boxes, and parcels to wrap. “Where do we start?” he asks. “One step at a time,” a little elf replies. When heavy snow blocks the path to the reindeer stables, Leo has the right idea: everyone takes a shovel and clears it together.

A story about the quiet pleasure of being useful, with warm watercolor illustrations, written to be read aloud to children aged 3 to 5.
