I was sent to feed a starving monster. Instead, I gave him my blood to watch him tear the world apart.

For ten years, Oressa has hidden her magic in the dirt. As the last living Vein Caller, her blood has the power to command life and death. But when the cruel King Oric discovers her, she is sold into a deadly marriage treaty and delivered to the ruined fortress of Vhol.

Her groom is Rykiel, an ancient, cursed vampire lord who has been locked in the dark, starving for a century. Oressa remembers him. She believes he is the beast who slaughtered her family. She arrives at his prison with a single vow: she will not feed him. She will sit in the freezing halls and watch the monster turn to dust.

But Rykiel does not beg, and he does not attack. He endures her cruelty with a quiet, agonizing patience that slowly tears at her sanity.

When the King’s elite iron-clad assassins breach the fortress, the trap is sprung. Oric sent them to execute the bride and the beast. But as Rykiel steps in front of the blades to protect her, the brutal truth comes to light: the vampire never killed her family. He took the blame, and a century of torture, just to hide a young Oressa from the King's slaughter.

Faced with the ultimate betrayal, Oressa makes her choice. She crosses the line from vengeance to violent obsession, offering her pulse to the starving god. Bound by blood and a lethal, awakened magic, they are no longer prisoners.

The king wanted to bury them in the dark. Instead, they will march on his

capital, and they will drown him in his own blood.

Fans of dark romantasy will devour this gritty, fast-paced novella.
