Every child knows there are monsters in the bedroom. What they don’t know is that the monsters are the good guys.

Meet Pug, a pyewacket bed guard who looks like a big, long bogey with cat ears and fish bits. His job is to keep eight-year-old Maisie safe from the dark forces that have always had a taste for children, and to make sure she never, ever sees him.

But something has gone wrong with Bun, Maisie’s battered, patched-up, faintly digestive-biscuit-scented rabbit. Suddenly Maisie won’t go near her. Pug investigates and finds a Habit: a small, sad-eyed household spirit that sours whatever it settles on. Pug can’t destroy it, and he can’t leave it where it is. So where do you put a problem that needs somewhere to go?

A funny, warm, bedtime-friendly story, about 20 minutes long, with plenty of jokes for the grown-ups listening too. The second adventure in the Pug and the Gloamlings series, and it works perfectly well on its own.

Written and narrated by Peter Lambden.
