His ex-fiancée said he'd never looked at her the way he looks at his best friend. Owen Mercer has spent three months telling himself she was wrong.

Owen has everything figured out: the family sugarhouse, the steady routines, and a heart he keeps safely locked down after his engagement fell apart. Then a burst pipe floods his best friend's apartment in the middle of sugaring season. Declan Rourke has been Owen's person since kindergarten, so of course Dec moves into the farmhouse.

That means late nights boiling sap in the steam-filled sugarhouse, Dec shirtless in his kitchen, and Owen suddenly unable to stop staring at his best friend's hands, his mouth and his laugh.

Dec has loved Owen for fifteen years, and he has a job offer in Burlington in his pocket that could finally set him free. He isn't going to be anyone's experiment. When Owen kisses him behind the sugarhouse at the Sugar-on-Snow party, Dec knows he should walk away.

Owen isn't asking to be Dec's experiment, though. He's asking to be his. Owen is learning there's a word for what he feels, and there's nothing wrong with it. Before the Maple Open House he has to decide whether he's brave enough to love his best friend in the daylight, in front of the whole town.

SAP RISING is a steamy 25,000-word MM novella with bi-awakening, forced proximity, years of pining and a guaranteed HEA. It's the first book in the Kindling Hollow series.
