Two women stand at the center of some of Revelation's most striking imagery: the Bride of Christ and Babylon the Harlot. For Sigurd Bratlie, they represent two opposing spiritual realities—and turn the biblical message about the end times into a deeply personal question.

Bratlie examines the return of Christ and the prophetic teaching of the New Testament, but his main concern is not to construct a timetable of end-time events. The decisive issue is how a person lives while waiting for Christ. What characterizes those who belong to the Bride? And what is the spiritual nature of Babylon?

The Bride represents faithfulness, purity, and undivided devotion to Christ. Her opposite appears where religion becomes joined to the spirit of this world. The imagery of Revelation is therefore not treated only as prophecy about future events, but as a description of spiritual realities that already call for a decision.

'The bride comes into being when we believe in the work of Christ and repent. We come to Him and hate our own life. Thus we receive the Spirit of Christ, and we have the power to crucify the flesh with its passions and desires. Paul says such people belong to Christ. Gal. 5:24. They are faithful to the leading of the Spirit, and consequently the bride comes into being.'

The book brings together themes such as Revelation, Babylon, the Bride of Christ, lawlessness, spiritual watchfulness, and the return of Jesus with a practical message about faithfulness and readiness.

In 'The Bride and the Harlot and the End Times' Sigurd Bratlie is not concerned with speculation about the future, but about how a Christian can live today in preparation for the return of Christ.
