Meg Callender has until Christmas to make forty-eight thousand dollars, or her great-aunt's store gets sold.

Callender's has stood on the green in Bellwether Crossing for longer than anyone can remember, and for sixty-four years it has been at war with the Aldriches across the way. Nobody can quite say why. So when the Christmas committee sends the village ballot jar over to Luke Aldrich's restaurant in the old bank, 'where the people are,' Meg does the only sensible thing. She declares war.

Signs in the window. One-dollar coffee. Receipts signed 'under protest.' A whole village keeping score.

Luke never even wanted the jar. He just couldn't turn it down with his father watching.

But Ida Callender's old ledgers, three letters that were never mailed, and a ballot taped under the cash drawer are telling a different story about the feud, and it is not the one either of their families likes to tell.

The Christmas Rivals at Bellwether Crossing is the first book in the Bellwether Crossing series: a sweet, clean small-town Christmas romance with a covered bridge, a bell, and a happy ending. The first chapter of Book Two is at the end.
