What if the beings in the Bible were not God at all?

A burning bush that does not burn. A column of cloud that glows at night and leads a nation through the desert. A mountain that smokes like a furnace and kills anyone who crosses its boundary. A prophet lifted into the sky by a whirlwind. Wheels within wheels that “turned not when they went.” A man taken up into a cloud.

For centuries we have read these stories in translation, through layers of tradition and doctrine. But the original Hebrew and Greek words are wider, stranger and far more physical than the English we inherited. When you read them as they were written, and set them beside what ordinary people describe in encounters today, a startling picture begins to emerge.

In The God Beyond the Book, Ashley Skippers follows around forty encounters from Genesis to Revelation, word by word, using the same lexicons scholars rely on. Inside you will discover what Ezekiel actually described, and why a NASA engineer who set out to disprove it changed his mind; why the Hebrew Bible speaks of a council of gods, and why Jesus spoke of a Father “the world hath not known”; what a Jewish historian saw in the skies over Jerusalem in AD 70, and how closely it matches the book of Revelation; which famous Bible verses were added by copyists centuries later; and the strongest objections of the critics, stated fairly.

This is not a book that asks you to stop believing. It asks you to consider that God may be bigger than any book: not a man on a throne, but Spirit, Love, Consciousness, the Intelligence behind everything.

The visitors were seen. The God beyond them never has been.

What if we got religion wrong?
