On Paul's first day at the firm, twenty-three and newly orphaned, wearing the shirt his mother helped him pick out, a woman named Nikki turns from the ice machine too fast and throws a full cup of iced tea across his chest.

She apologizes for a week. He times his coffee breaks to hers. She tells him about the men who ghost her and he tells her about the quiet house he's living in alone, and somewhere in the middle of all that talking she decides, for reasons that make sense only to her, that he isn't interested in women.

He is. He has been since the tea.

What follows takes years: a friendship that saves his life, a dating coach who's writing love letters to another man, a grandmother with firm opinions about bones and height, and a love that everyone around them saw coming long before they did.

The Iced Tea Incident is a complete novella, expanded from the Patreon serial, by the author of Hands Off. It includes a character dealing with thoughts of suicide.
