Some stories are too painful to finish. Tonight, someone made sure of it.

At the Moonrise Café, Port Alder's only night-owl hangout, the cold brew is strong, the regulars are undead, and nobody asks questions. Barista Nora Quill likes it that way. Then Abel, the gentlest soul at the counter, orders something off the secret menu, walks out into the dark, and never comes back. Now Nora and a by-the-book night deputy are chasing a trail of gold-sun crates, a recipe nobody should have, and a polite stranger who seems to know far too much about her.

By sunrise, something will be taken from everyone Nora loves. She has hours to find out who is pouring it, and why every clue seems to have been left for her. Some doors are built to stay open. Some walls are built to keep you safe. And in a town where everyone keeps odd hours and odder secrets, the truth is already on its way, cold, bitter, and impossible to send back.

If you could forget the one thing that hurts most, would you ever want it back?
