An oath meant to protect has become a weapon.

The forested world is ruled by the Dogma Council.

Oathbearers are sworn to protect humanity.

The Bona Fide are afforded no such mercy.

Lily Vaughn has never been particularly good at following rules.

Behind Dogma's watchful eyes, she steals from the wealthy and gives to the very people she's forbidden to protect.

She knows the consequences.

She refuses to believe compassion should have boundaries.

Silas Arwyn has secrets of his own.

He has an equally troublesome habit of defying authority.

When their paths collide, suspicion gives way to an unlikely alliance, dangerous attraction, and a growing determination to challenge everything they've been taught.

Dogma's authority reaches far beyond its council chambers.

Disappearances, manufactured fear, and increasingly unnatural disasters threaten a world already divided by prejudice and obedience.

Deep within the ancient forests, something is watching.

The trees remember.

The land responds.

Not every oath deserves to be honored.

As Lily and Silas uncover the darkness beneath Dogma's promises, they must decide how much they're willing to sacrifice for those who have no one else to defend them.

The world is consumed by pride.

Compassion may be the most dangerous rebellion of all.
