She came home to save the farm. She never planned on the pastor next door.

Mara Hale spent five years fixing other people's love stories as a Chicago wedding planner, until a phone call brought her home to Eshcol Valley.

Her father is ill. Her late mother's flower farm is dying. And the only help in sight is Pastor Caleb Thorne, the cheerful new youth pastor next door, who is much better at sermons than fences.

Mara doesn't need anyone's charity. Caleb doesn't take no for an answer. And somewhere between broken irrigation pipes, terrible casseroles and the Bible verse that arrives with her coffee every morning, something begins to bloom that neither of them expected.

When the Hydrangeas Bloom Again is a free, clean and faith-filled short story (about 7,700 words) by Evie Calloway. It's just right for one cozy evening.

Sweet, slow-burn romance. Small-town flower farm setting. Healing, hope and second chances. Scripture from the King James Version. No bad language and nothing steamy. Nothing you'd mind handing your mother or your pastor.
