On the first Monday in October, Noor Haddad has been asleep for nine minutes when her roommate's older brother starts drilling into the wall behind her head. She is twenty-six, the head baker at a bakery on the east side of Providence, and she sleeps through the afternoons because her day starts at three in the morning.

Cormac Whitlock is thirty-four, a structural engineer with six weeks in their spare room. Noor has no tie to him of any kind. She met him two years ago at his sister's birthday dinner, and she has carried a private fantasy for much longer than that: being woken slowly by a man's hands and mouth.

She is going to ask for it the right way: wide awake, sober, at the kitchen table with the light on. She says every rule aloud, he writes it down in his engineer's field book, and she reads every word back to him before anyone closes their eyes. One plain word, stop, ends anything, any time, and the only yes for an afternoon is the old proofing cloth she leaves folded on the table. Cormac keeps every line. The more exactly he keeps them, the more she can let go.

Woken Up Hard is a high heat, fully consensual romance between two adults, agreed aloud and in advance, with a heroine who authors every scene and a happy ending. It is Book 1 in the Woken Up Hard series, and it can be read as a standalone. For adult readers 18+.
