Beyond the city walls, the world is nothing but ash, darkness, and death.

In the suffocating wasteland of a ruined civilization, humanity clings to survival behind towering fortifications and the iron grip of military authority. Beyond the city's defenses, isolated observation stations stand watch over a desolate world where the air is poison, supplies are dwindling, and the dangers lurking in the darkness remain largely unknown.

At one such station, a hardened Warden and his small band of penal soldiers struggle to maintain crumbling defenses under the command of an arrogant officer more concerned with discipline and appearances than the deteriorating conditions around him.

As strange readings emerge from the wasteland and unsettling sightings are reported beyond the perimeter, the station's weary inhabitants continue their duties beneath an atmosphere of growing uncertainty.

In a world shaped by forgotten history, rigid authority, and the constant struggle for survival, even the most ordinary day carries the weight of the unknown.

Beyond the walls lies a world long abandoned. Within them, humanity struggles to endure.

Wolves and Foxes is a dark, atmospheric post-apocalyptic science fiction short story blending military dystopia, haunting worldbuilding, and moral complexity in a bleak vision of humanity's future.
