Unable to convince him to become more circumspect by argument or entreaty, she decides that the only way to get his attention is to punish him like a child. She forces him to submit by threatening to invoke the draconian option that society has provided to wives if their husbands become disagreeable. After Emily punishes Corey, she find herself conflicted. She loves him, but enjoys the power.<br />Corey, for his part, discovers to his surprise that many of his fellows including his best friend Max are being similarly disciplined by their wives. He vows never to submit again, but wanting and doing are often worlds apart.<br />This story is an attempt to explore a possible future that is becoming more and more likely. Whether the result is the world depicted in this novel remains to be seen.
